Belgian company BVBA Desmedt Mark has constructed a static recycling plant in Grimbergen, 10km north of Brussels, for the processing of building rubble, concrete (both with and without rebar) and asphalt. The plant is capable of processing 300tph with a feed size of up to 1,000 x 800 x 800mm and, for slab material, up to 1,300 x 1,000 x 300mm.
The HAZEMAG crushing and screening plant processes the feed material into granular material, of various fractions, suitable for use in the construction sector for foundations and sub-foundations.
The turn-key recycling plant consists of three units:
1 Crushing and sifting unit with pre-screening 0 – 6mm
2 Screening and sifting unit with product 0 – 20mm, 20 – 40mm and 40 – 80mm
3 Second screening and sifting unit for further separation of 0 – 20mm product down to 0 – 6mm and 6 – 20mm
A HAZEMAG Apron Feeder is used to transfer rubble from the feed hopper onto an eccentric pre-separator screen which screens out any fine material prior to crushing. The feed material is then processed with a single HAZEMAG Impact Crusher HPI-H 1615 which produces a nominal product size of <80mm. Crushed material is conveyed using a vibrating feeder and belt conveyors and, to make the recycling process as effective as possible, the plant can be run as a ‘closed-circuit’ operation; so oversize material is fed back into the crushing process. Screening units are used to separate the different grain sizes, and magnetic belt separators, along with a non-ferrous metal separator, are also installed in the system to remove tramp metal. The use of two screening and sifting units enables the production of a variety of commercial products, and the inclusion of HAZEMAG Windsifters, which automatically remove lightweight foreign materials such as wood, paper and plastic, ensures an exceptionally clean end product.
The automated recycling plant is controlled by HAZconnect – a fully integrated software platform which provides visual reports on plant performance and process data, and also offers integrated recipe management; enabling the customer to adapt the recycling process to match available feed material and the required end product. To control efficiency, and to provide an overview of the recycling plant’s performance, belt weighing systems measure throughput and material flows. Cost optimisation is a major feature of the HAZEMAG Impact Crusher – the robust, quality construction minimises attrition of internal components, and regular maintenance work is limited to the replacement of wear parts.
HAZEMAG undertook the construction of all steelwork and installation of electrical switchgear for the recycling plant.
